Why is it SO hard to focus on the present rather than wanting what’s in the future? The command’s pretty simple: “But if we hope for what we do not yet have, we wait for it patiently” (Romans 8:25). If we expect to be content only when we get a certain something in the distance, we end up on a chase that never ends. The key is to learn contentment in every situation.

Realize that every day of your life, every event and circumstance, shapes who you are. Instead of dwelling on what you wish could be different, find the positives in every situation. And above everything, trust God! Life is so much better when you understand that He sees the whole picture rather than just the limited daily vision you have of your life.
